First steps. What new traders need to start

When you are just starting out, everything looks very complicated, and very confusing. Relax! We're here to help you.

Trading is not easy. If it were, everybody would do it, and nobody would make a profit.

There are some basic things you need to learn, and some basic skills you need to acquire.

And you have to do this is a safe environment. There are no minor leagues in trading; you try to make your profit by taking advanatge of other traders; they hope to make their profits by taking advantage of you.

When you are the newbie, it is not hard to see who wins, and who loses.

So Naturus gives youi a structured way to learn and provides a safe environment for you to practice your new skills.

Safe, structured learning from Naturus

Nat's structured training program is available now. You can begin anytime, and in 84 days -- one lesson each week --  she will show you how to survive and profit in a market that is always misleading, and sometimes manipulated.

The curriculum deals extensively with Technical Analysis, the tricks and insights Nat uses to read price charts and anticipate what the market will do next.

But it also devotes careful attention to the neglected essentials that often determine success or failure: money and account management; trading psychology, including techniques for managing your emotions to keep you from sabotaging your own trades; and risk control methods that help keep you safe while you learn and while you trade.

To help you learn, Nat holds regular, free, live question-and-answer sessions with students.

Best of all, the training is effectively free: if you commit in advance to a three-month membership in Nat's room, the training is yours with no additional charge.

See this page for a pdf file explaining the details, and this page to subscribe.

Or create a Naturus account in the orange box on the right -- there is no charge and no obligation -- and send a note to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll help you decide if this program is right for you.

In the meantime there are learning resources on the website that will help you get started.

What you need to start learning

Here is a partial list:

  • Time. How much depends on your circumstances, but not less than you would devote to a full course at university.
  • Money. You can start small. But you can't trade without money. When you are ready to 'go live' the practical minimum is about $5,000. You don't have to have that to start learning, but you will need at least that much — and probably a bit more — to begin trading. It is better to wait than to start with too little.
  • Knowledge. Nat will teach you. But you will have to study, and you have to apply yourself diligently. These are complex skills and they are not aquired without effort.
  • Computer equipment and skills. Almost all the softweare and equipment in this field is pc based, all trading is done over the internet, so you need a fast and reliable connections and up-to-date pc equipment.
  • A broker account, data, trading platform and simulation account. We can help you organize that.
  • Emotional control. The ability to apply your knowledge under difficult circumstances. The most neglected part of trading, but one of the most important issues you will face.
  • Practice. Experience is not the best teacher in this field; it is the only teacher. You can't learn trading by talking about it, or reading about it, or watching somebody else do it. You have to do it yourself. We will help you set up a simulation account so you can practice paper trading without going broke, and show you how experienced traders are looking at the market and trading it every day.

There are a lot of practical considerations you need to weigh before you embark on this adventure. How long does it take? How much does it cost? Does it work? What can I reasonably hope to achieve?

We will help you assess each of those issues, because we only want you to join us if we think you can be succeed. We want a long and mutually profitable relationship, and that will only happen if you are successful.

So This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will help you reach a reasoned and informed decision about this. It may be that trading is not right for you. It is not right for most people.

But if you want to try, we will help.
